MIAMI TO HOUND EARS CLUB

MILEAGE : 836 Miles

Take I-95 all the way through Georgia.
South Carolina boarder is just North of Savanna, GA.
The road is well marked with mileage markers.

Continue North on I-95 into South Carolina until mile marker 85 (exit 86 B).
Proceed  I-26  towards Columbia, SC

Continue West on I-26 through the city of Columbia, SC
Be on the lookout for signs indicating " I-77,"  (about mile marker 108 [exit 107 B]).

Proceed I-77 towards Charlotte, NC

IF YOU HAVE 3 HOURS OF DAY LIGHT LEFT TAKE OPTION No. 1

Otherwise, take option No. 2

OPTION No. 1

Charlotte is just over the North Carolina state line on I-77
Drive past Charlotte on I-77 until you are about mile marker 82

Exit and proceed West under I-77 towards North Wilkesboro

VERY IMPORTANT: 

AS YOU DRIVE UNDER THE I-77 INTERSTATE ZERO YOUR ODOMETER
(OR CHECK THE MILAGE).

You are now 60 miles from the club.

Continue West on 421 North through North Wilkesboro. 

You will see the mountains in the distance just after North Wilkesboro.
Approximately 41 miles past the I-77 interstate you will find a sign for the "Blue Ridge Parkway."
Exit 421 North (to the left) onto the "Blue Ridge" (just as you pass under the parkway itself).

Proceed on the Blue Ridge Parkway "South" (or to the right).

You have now entered the “Gates Of Heaven”. 
Roll down the windows, smell the air, and enjoy the views.
You will pass Bamboo Gap and Yadkin Overlook.

Approximately 54 miles past the I-77 interchange you will come upon the "thunder hill" overlook (left side)  its worth a brief stop!

Continue South on the parkway until approximately 58.5 miles from the I-77 interchange.

You will have just passed a “Craft Center” and “Cone House Park”
EXIT to the left "JCT 221 / Blowing Rock".

Immediately, upon exiting the parkway, you shall see a sign for "Shulls Mill Road" to the right.  

Follow "Shulls Mill Road" under the parkway.

Once on " Shulls Mill Road," you have a 5 mile drive on winding roads, until you see the Hound Ears golf course.

The gate house will come into view on the right side just passed a small bridge abeam the green of the 17th. hole.

We are the 1st. house on the left, below the road, (1^st possible left turn).

IF LOST: 963-8765 (HOUSE) 963-4321 (CLUB HOUSE)

OPTION # 2

Drive past Charlotte on I-77 until you see signs for I-85 South

NOTE:  I-85 South will head you left of the way you were driving on I-77

Proceed I-85 South towards Gastonia / Mt. Holly

Approximately 21 miles past the I-77 interchange

Proceed 321 North towards Gastonia / Conover / Newton.

• I think its Exit 16 (but I am not sure)

Continue 321 North towards Hickory / Lenoir.

Stay on 321 up the mountain into Blowing Rock (52 miles)

As you arrive in Blowing Rock you will pass three landmarks:

                        - Days Inn

                        - Hardies

                        - ABC store

At the 1st. light (Texaco station) turn left
At the end of the street you come to a light, turn right.
About 200 yards you will come to another light - turn left (RT. 221)

Travel 1.5 miles from this point until you see a sign "Shulls Mill Road"

Turn right at the "Shulls Mill Road" sign.

Follow " Shulls Mill Road " under the parkway.

Once on " Shulls Mill Road," you have a 5 mile drive on winding roads, until you see the Hound Ears golf course.

The gate house will come into view on the right side just passed a small bridge abeam the green of the 17th. hole.
