Hound Ears Club
Blowing Rock, NC

There is beauty at every turn at this exclusive two hundred-member 1,200-acre private gated equity club, which takes its unusual name from a rock formation on the property that resembles the ears of a hound.  Located between 3,300 and 3,900 feet on the Watagua River in the North Carolina High Country, the alpine lodge and surrounding hillside homes have a ringside view of the majestic Grandfather Mountain.  The resort offers golf, tennis, swimming, hiking, picnicking, trout fishing, European Spa, fitness center, and snow skiing.  Nearby, member have a wealth of recreational options in the North Carolina High Country - horseback riding, carriage rides, white water rafting, canoeing, and shopping for the traditional mountain crafts.  Members have their own private 18 hole manicured golf course, twelve tennis courts, and beginner and intermediate ski slopes.  The club has a pro shop, beauty shop, and florist.

Hound Ears Club has one of the most beautiful swimming pools on the East Coast.  Built in a natural grotto, it is surrounded with lush, native plants.

At the Spa, North Carolina's first European private spa, members can slow down and rejuvenate the body.  Massages, facials, reflexology, exercise prescriptions, fitness assessments, diet and nutrition consultation, skin/body treatments, cellulite treatments, and other services are available at the Life Enrichment Center, which has a beautiful panoramic mountain view.

The private homes and villas overlooking the golf course, are candidates for Better Homes and Gardens.  In the morning you will awake from your restful slumber to the beauty of a gentle rolling fog shifting through the mountains.

The club features a four star restaurant.  Food, under the direction of Chef Jay Mahoney, a Greenbrier graduate, is very important at Hound Ears, with great attention given to taste and presentation.  Jackets are required in the lounge and dining room after 6:30 P.M.
